Classification and labelling notification

Manufacturers and importers of chemical substances in the EU must notify the classification and labelling of substances to ECHA in compliance with the CLP regulation. The information will be available in a new, publicly accessible database named Classification and Labelling Inventory.

Pure substances and substances in mixtures
Classification and labelling for all manufactured or imported substances must be notified. Moreover, classification of substances in imported mixtures must be notified if the substance concentration exceeds a certain limit.

The notification to the Classification and Labelling Inventory includes all substances which must be registered according to REACH, the chemicals regulation in the EU. For substances that are not to be registered under REACH only notification for classified substances is required.

No lower amount limit
The classification and labelling of substances must be notified regardless of the amount produced or imported. This includes both substances registered under REACH and non-registered substances.
