Nutrition and health claims may be used for foods, including dietary supplements if approved by the EU Commission. Before approval, the EU Commission takes into consideration the opinion of EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority. EFSA has rejected a number of health claims and approved the documentation for only a few health claims. This course deals with the experience gained from the approval procedure up till now. Submission of sufficient characterisations of the food ingredients is for instance very important.
Topics:
- How do you substantiate the truthfulness of a claim?
- What does scientifically proven mean?
